Auditions for Grimm Tales - Watford Palace Theatre

Hertfordshire County Youth Theatre is currently looking for talented young performers for their latest production of Grimm Tales which will take place on 30 & 31 October 2009 at Watford Palace Theatre.

Auditions are being held across Hertfordshire in June and anyone aged 13-18 and currently attending a council funded school or college in the county is eligible to take part.

Grimm Tales is adapted by multi-award winning writer Carol Ann Duffy, who was recently appointed as the first female Poet Laureate. It is dramatised by Tim Supple, who directed the Indian A Midsummer Night’s Dream which began its UK tour at the Watford Palace in 2007. It will be directed by James Williams, the Young People’s Director at Watford Palace Theatre.

Grimm Tales is a collection of much-loved classic fairy tales from the Brothers Grimm, including Hansel & Gretel, Rumplestiltskin, and The Golden Goose. These stories will take you on a dark and magical journey into your childhood hopes and fears. Where the forest is full of danger, fortunes can be found in the most unexpected places, and families struggle to keep the wolf from the door. A feast of live music, puppetry and storytelling to feed the imagination.

For this production, Hertfordshire County Youth Theatre will be teaming up with Hertfordshire Music Service and Sean Gregory from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama to create original music which will be performed live on stage by some of the county’s most talented young musicians.
