Panto auditions at Watford Palace Theatre

Watford Palace Theatre is looking for enthusiastic young performers to take to the stage in its traditional family pantomime Cinderella.

This year, we are recruiting for two age groups to form the choruses.  The first is for a Junior Chorus of children aged between 8 and 14 who are under five feet tall, and the second is for a Youth Chorus of young people aged between 16 and 18.

Holly McBride, Assistant Director for Cinderella says: ‘We are really excited to be offering the opportunity to audition a wider age group for the first time.  The older Youth Chorus is a wonderful chance for those of you considering a career in the performing arts to gain invaluable experience by taking part in a full scale professional production.  It is an advantage if you have a background in dance, but most of all we’ll be looking for enthusiasm, confidence, and stage presence.

‘For the junior chorus, we’re looking for children with bags of personality and a good sense of fun, no previous experience needed.’

Auditions for the 8-14 year olds will be held on September 13th and 16-18 year olds on September 27th, you will need to book an audition slot in advance by emailing Kirsten Adam, Assistant Administrator on kirsten.adam@watfordpalacetheatre.co.uk

No preparation is needed for auditions, a song and basic dance routine will be taught on the day in groups.  Rehearsals will be held throughout November, mainly in the evenings.  The young people will be required for some mornings in December for performances.

Cinders, neglected by her wicked Stepmother, dreams of being rescued by the love of a handsome prince.  With a healthy dose of traditional panto chaos and jokes, and of course the classic double-act of Ugly Sisters, Cinderella is the perfect family experience.  Bring your children, grandchildren, or someone else’s children! or simply come along to have a laugh with your friends.  It is written by Joanna Read and Stuart Thomas and directed by Kate Saxon.

To book tickets for Cinderella please call the Box Office on 01923 225671 or go to www.watfordpalacetheatre.co.uk
