Chorleywood Choral Society - Recruitment Evening

PRESS RELEASE

October 31 2008: for immediate release

CALLING ALL KEEN LOCAL SINGERS!

Join Chorleywood Choral Society

For no-strings tryout evening

Wednesday November 12th, 7.30pm

Chorleywood Choral Society, a very active and innovative local group with a membership drawn from many parts of West Herts and East Bucks, is looking for new blood to swell its 65-strong ranks.

Local singers are invited to join the choir on a no-strings basis to rehearse and perform some well-loved classics, including Handel’s ‘Hallelujah Chorus’, Mozart’s Ave Verum and Rutter’s Gaelic Blessing, under the baton of our dynamic Musical Director Graham Wili on the evening of Wednesday November 12th.

Chorleywood Choral Society is approaching the end of one of the most exciting years in its 67-year history. In May we performed the world premiere of a newly commissioned work, Songs of the Coromandel Coast, at the Royal Festival Hall, as part of the Southbank Centre’s prestigious Chorus Festival. The concert was recorded live and we are awaiting the release of the CD – our first commercial recording.

In June we put on an outdoor picnic concert at The Bury, Chesham, as part of the Chesham Open Air Festival. Then in August we toured the West Country with a repertoire subsequently performed at St Peter’s Church, Berkhamsted, and St Peter and St Paul Church, Little Gaddesden. We are currently building up to our Christmas concert, Carols from Around the World, to be performed at St Mary’s Church, Chesham on Saturday December 6th, 7.30pm.

Now we are looking for new members to help take us forward into an equally exciting future. We welcome all comers – no auditions necessary – but are, like most choirs, particularly keen to attract tenors and basses.

Join us for welcome drinks at The Free Church, Hillside Road, Chorleywood, on Wednesday November 12th at 7.30pm. The rehearsal will begin at 8pm and the evening will conclude at 10pm.
