Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater at St Mary’s Church,
Saturday June 27th, 7.30pm
Chorleywood Choral Society are giving concert-goers in Rickmansworth a sneak preview of the lovely and varied programme of choral music they are taking on tour to Europe later this summer.
Together with neighbouring Berkhamsted Choral Society, they will perform Pergolesi’s dramatic and richly melodic Stabat Mater, together with pieces by Purcell, Stanford and Bairstow, at St Mary’s Church, Rickmansworth, on Saturday June 27th.
In late August the two choirs decamp to Belgium, where they will perform the same programme of music in Brussels Cathedral, St Michael’s Church, Leuven and the Anglican Church in Antwerp.
They will return home to present a final performance of this repertoire at St Peter’s Church, Berkhamsted, on Saturday September 19th. The choirs are accompanied for all the concerts by organist Iestyn Evans, and conducted by Graham Wili.
Tickets, price £10 (£5 for children and students) are available from Chorleywood Bookshop or on the door.
