There's no need to be in two minds about recycling. That's the message from the Rickmansworth Players and Three Rivers District Council during Halloween. The Rickmansworth Players amateur dramatic group are staging the spooky Dr Jeckyll and Mr Hyde from 11 - 15 November at Watersmeet.
Rickmansworth Players' Jill Hammond said the group supports recycling:
"I'm happy to back the Council's reminder to put the right things in the right bins - there's no point wasting tax payers' money on recycling which cannot be used because it's contaminated."
Council recycling officer Jennie Moore said:
"There's no need for people to be in two minds like Dr Jeckyll - just give us a ring about recycling and we'll be happy to advise or just visit our website.
"We are getting better and better at getting recycling right. The most common confusion is around yoghurt pots and meat trays which unfortunately cannot yet be recycled. Aerosols can also be confusing - these go in the green box with plastic bottles and cans. All plastic bottles can now be recycled in the green box - including drinks, shampoo and milk bottles. Most people are getting the paper and glass right."
Last year Three Rivers District Council had 256 tonnes of recycling rejected in the first six months because it was contaminated with the wrong kind of rubbish. In the same period for this year, only 17 tonnes have been rejected. Rejected recycling is charged to the Council at £90 per tonne.
