Highways Update - Cllr Martin Trevett
Highways update

Just to try and up date you on some of the on going highways related schemes

Green Street cycle path
The go ahead has been given to the 2nd phase of the Green Street cycle path, which will see the path extended from Orchard Drive down to the Station Approach junction, there by providing a safe cycle route from almost the village centre to St Clement Danes and by linking up to the exiting Chenies Road cycle path on beyond.
St Clement Danes School
The County Council has decided to implement new parking controls along Chenies Road to prevent dangerous parking outside the school at drop off and pick up times, they have also decided to make the service road at the top of North Hill one way to facilitate school bus movements.
At long last the County as a greed to provide a pedestrian refuge to help with safer crossing of Chenies Road, the scheme together with extra signage and lining will cost around 57K for which funding is now being sort.
Discussions are on going about improving safety at the schools rear entrance in Green Street.
Shire Lane VA signs
Funding has now been finalized for the Shire Lane vehicle activated signs discussions about the exact location of the signs will shortly take place and the signs are due to be installed in the next couple of months.
Swillett 20mph zone
The scheme has been expanded following the feasibility study to possibly include Stag Lane; the next stage is detailed design work, which will be followed by a full public consultation.
BlackettsWood Drive petition
The County Council has recently moved the goal posts and have decreed that in order for a road to be considered for speed reduction measures there must have been three injury accidents of which one must have been speed related, I think this change is disgraceful and am trying to find some way round it particularly in the vicinity of the Russell Schools rear entrance.

I have copies of the reports on St Clement Danes School, the Swillett 20mph zone and Blacketts Wood Drive together with drawings of the Sire Lane VA signs that I can email to anyone who wants them let me know

Best regards
