New Chairman for the Three Rivers district

After a successful and busy year as Chairman of Three Rivers District Council for 2008/2009, Councillor Chris Lloyd has passed on his Chain of Office to the new Chairman for 2009/2010, Councillor Richard Laval.  The Chairman of the Council is a non-political role, similar to that of a civic mayor.

Councillor Laval, Ward Councillor for Bedmond and Primrose Hill, has lived in South West Herts since 1984. His interests include reading, being on the board of Thrive Homes and travelling.

Councillor Laval said:

"I am honoured to have the opportunity to serve the different communities of Three Rivers and I will try to meet the high standards and commitment shown by Chairman Lloyd last year. I am looking forward to meeting the many community groups that help make Three Rivers such a great place to live (especially Bedmond) and also to visiting communities and villages in the district such as Chorleywood, Eastbury, Carpenders Park etc."

Councillor Laval has named two charities to support during his year in office; Wateraid and the Retired Greyhound Trust.
