From 3rd – 7th September, local man Paul Harding is cycling to Paris to raise money for the Royal British Legion.
Local Rickmansworth resident Paul Harding (49), flanked by a team of friends, is taking part in the 280 mile trip from London to Paris over four days in September. Incredibly, Paul has completed a total of 20 rides in support of the Legion since his inaugural Pedal to Paris attempt in 1996.
Paul first got involved with the ride when colleagues at Three Valleys Water decided to enter as a charitable team-bonding exercise and he hasn’t looked back since. Paul said “The sense of achievement that comes with reaching the finishing line is overwhelming. I’m looking forward to the journey down the Champs-Élysées already. It’s a great event and such an enjoyable way to donate money to charity.”
Pedal to Paris is now in its fourteenth year and has a well-established reputation as the best organised of any of the charity rides between the two capitals. The 2009 ride will feature the same standards of service and logistical support including full rolling road closures, comprehensive technical support and sports therapist services.
Dan Solley, Events Manager at The Royal British Legion said “It’s fantastic to see all the riders gearing up for the ride. There has been plenty of training going on up and down country and it all helps to make Pedal to Paris a great event. Everyone taking part has been working hard to raise money for an important charity.”
The Royal British Legion safeguards the welfare, interests and memory of serving and ex-Service people as well as their families and dependants. All funds raised by the Pedal to Paris event will be put towards this cause.
